Sony was originally called Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo, which means Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Company, when it was formed in 1946 by Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita. In 2006, the Sony Corporation bought the digital SLR camera section of Konica Minolta and released its` first digital slr camera, called the Alpha DSLR A100, in July 2006.
