The Panasonic name was created in 1955 by its` parent company Matsushita for the North American market. Matsushita is the world`s largest manufacturer and its` Panasonic division specializes in dvd recorders, plasma displays, blu ray, laptops and of course, digital cameras and digital slr cameras.

Panasonic, in collaboration with Leica Camera AG, has produced a large range of digital cameras over recent years for the beginner as well as more advanced photographers. Under its` Lumix brand, Panasonic has also produced two digital SLR cameras using the four thirds standard - the 7 megapixel Lumix DMC-LI & the more recent 10 megapixel Lumix DMC-L10. One of the main advantages of Panasonic cameras is that they use high quality Leica lenses. Recent Panasonic DSLRs are listed below.
