Tripods are an essential part of a photographer's kit for maximizing image quality for a wide range of photographic subjects ranging from macro photography to capturing fast action in sport photography. To minimise camera shake, most photographers will use a cable release, self-timer or remote control as opposed to pressing the shutter by hand.
Tripods vary in quality, size, weight and price. Heavy tripods provide the most stability and large heavy tripods can often be found in photographer's studios where mobility is not required. For a photographer shooting on location, the tripod has to have a balance between weight, stability and portability. To increase the stability of a light to medium weight tripod, photographers will often place their camera bag or object on the tripod. |
